The Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Indiana University South Bend invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Sociology or Anthropology with a specialty in social informatics, the study of information and communication tools in cultural or institutional contexts (see

IU South Bend has a 3-3 teaching load. The successful candidate will teach Social Informatics each semester and other sociology or anthropology courses for the social informatics cognate or the departmental major based on the candidate's areas of expertise.
Qualifications include a PhD by August 2009 (or completion anticipated with initial appointment as Acting Assistant Professor until completion of PhD), strong commitment to undergraduate teaching, evidence of teaching effectiveness and an active and productive research program.
